De Lijn
Company
The Flemish transport company De Lijn was founded in 1991 and is an external, independent agency within the Flemish government which organizes the city and regional public transport in the Flemish region.
In 2016, nearly 519 million travelers used De Lijn to transport themselves from point A to point B. This shows that their public transport is frequently used by the majority of the Flemish population. De Lijn offers safe and affordable transport, this makes the service very accessible to different population groups. Moreover, the transport company is also based in Antwerp, which is the main location of our campaign. These three factors will support our objective to reach our potential target audience.
De Lijn supports the transition to sustainable mobility and aims to reduce their ecological footprint by 2050 with 90%. The company wants to accomplish this through the use of eco-driving, new constructions, renovations, hybrid vehicles and acquisitions. Also, De Lijn has established partnerships with different complementary initiatives, for example: Cambio and Blue-bike. These initiatives show the willingness of the business to contribute to a more viable city. As M4F has the same ambitions and ideology as De Lijn regarding sustainable transport, we believe a collaboration will contribute greatly to our cause and goal which is to make cities and communities more sustainable and efficient through green transportation.
If a collaboration between M4F and De Lijn were to be established, it would be beneficial to the credibility of De Lijn’s desires to accomplish green transport and a reduction of emissions within the coming years. In addition, it would support the goal of M4F to have a more sustainable city of Antwerp.
